Free (Your Mind) Textures

Nachdem ich Carissa Paige's kleines Video gesehen hatte, wuchs in mir das Bedürfnis endlich wieder etwas mit Farbe zu gestalten.  Schon seit langem wollte ich meine eigenen Texturen kreieren und plötzlich wusste ich, was ich da mit Farbe auf meinen so lieb gewonnenen kleinen Holztäfelchen malen wollte: freie Formen und Farben, Strukturen und Texturen. Abstrakte kleine Bilder zum abfotografieren und weiter verwenden! Ihr wisst, wie sehr ich die frei zur  Verfügung gestellten Texturen von les brumes liebe. Sie sind so besonders, weil sie so künstlerisch, handgefertigt und poetisch sind, keine rein digital erstellten Texturen können da mithalten.
After having watched Carissa Paige's video I really felt the urge to create something with colour. I had thought about creating my own textures for some time now and so I suddenly knew what I wanted to paint on my lovely little wood panels: free forms and colours, structures and textures. Abstract little paintings I wanted to photograph and use then as textures! You know how much I love those made by  les brumes. They are so artistic, handmade and poetic, no simple digitally created textures can be like them.

Und so habe ich zusammen mit meinen Kindern an unserem ersten Ferienmorgen die Küche in ein kleines Kunstatelier verwandelt, alle möglichen Farben, Pinsel, Spachtel, Papiere und eben Sperrholzplatten hervorgeholt und losgelegt! Wir hatten so viel Spaß und es sind richtig schöne Texturen entstanden. Ich nenne diese erste Reihe mein "Free You Mind" Set, weil sich es sich genauso befreiend angefühlt hat, sie herzustellen! Eine davon möchte ich euch heute zeigen und euch auch frei zur Verfügung stellen (auf Flickr)! Hier ist das ganze Bild
And so I turned together with my kids our kitchen into a little art studio with all kinds of paint, brushes, paper and also some wood panels and then we started! We had so much fun and some really beautiful textures were created. I call this first set my "Free Your Mind" textures because this was what it felt like to make them. And now I want to show you one of them and I also want to share them with you for free (on Flickr)! First, here's the whole painting

The Yellow Stripes

Kurz vor dem ersten Schnee bin ich endlich einmal wieder durch München gezogen und habe nach meinen Motiven gesucht, nach den kleinen Farb- und Formspielen, die mir so sehr gefallen. Gerade als ich bei den ersten großen Plakatwänden ankam, sah ich, dass unmittelbar zuvor alles frisch und glatt "tapeziert" worden war... Somit musste ich weiterziehen, genauer hinschauen und fand dann irgendwann die gelben Streifen und dieses wundervolle Blau. Zu Hause habe ich die Fotos noch digital nachbearbeitet, später ausgedruckt, auf Holz aufgezogen und noch einmal bearbeitet. Nun sind die Plakatfetzen wieder zu Bildern, zu einem abstrakten Dyptichon, geworden, ohne Werbung, ohne Motiv, einfach nur reine Farben und Formen.
Just before the first snow I had been strolling through Munich searching for my motifs, the little plays of colour and form which I love so much. When I arrived at the first big billboards I saw that they had just before been covered with new clean posters... So I had to move on, be more aware and  so I finally found those yellow stripes and the wonderful blue colour. At home I did some processing on the photos, later I printed  them and mounted them on wood and then I added some texture. Now the torn posters have been turned into images again, some kind of abstract diptych, without any ads or motif just simple colour and form.
