April Weather

April is a promise that May is bound to keep. ~Hal Borland

Rain, even some snow and cold but also some sunshine, that's really typical April weather! The flowers look quite pretty after a little shower :-)

And then May will surely bring us some warm weather...

Cling to your imperfection!

You see, when weaving a blanket, an Indian woman leaves a flaw in the weaving of that blanket to let the soul out.  ~Martha Graham

Oh how much I would wish to make everything perfectly right in my life and how seldom do I manage to fulfill my ambitions. In the worst case I even get completely paralyzed by my wish to be perfect so that I don't even do what I would like to do...

And at the same time I know that perfection is often so boring and the imperfect has that certain something. The same way that handmade things are not as perfect as things made by a machine, they have little irregularities, traces of the hand that made them and therefore they are so beautiful. They have soul just because the person who made them has left his marks on them.
So I would like to encourage you to value and welcome more the imperfect, extraordinary in your lives. We all have our small and big flaws that make us the way we are:

I cling to my imperfection, as the very essence of my being.  ~Anatole France (Jacques Anatole François Thibault), The Garden of Epicurus, 1894

It's really the imperfect that makes us "extra-ordinary", special, unique and who wants to be ordinary and like everyone else?

Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those that sang best.

Don't wait to be perfect to do something, write the beautiful imperfect blogpost, make the imperfect photos and simply stay perfectly imperfect human beings!

Tea will warm you

If you are cold, tea will warm you; if you are too heated, it will cool you; if you are depressed, it will cheer you; if you are exhausted, it will calm you.

William Gladstone, 1809-1898 (British Prime Minister, 1868-1894)

Today my bowl of tea has to warm body and soul because here in Munich it's cold and rainy again...

    Home Sweet Home

I love dahlias, ranunculus and peonies, beautiful bowls and especially this one with the blue anchor which was a present from my grandfather who was from Brittany. He loved beautiful antique furniture , special products telling a story, good food (when I visited my grandparents I often got scallops as a starter and a crêpe for dessert), coffee out of a bol (bowl) and whine, preferably rosé!

    Sakura

The Spring pop up store will start right after the weekend here in Munich! My Sakura motif which freshly blossomed on wood today will be there among my other photos on wood and in the middle of many handmade crafty and arty things in a central place in Munich called the "Stachus-Untergeschoss".

But right now the cherry blossoms already create some more Spring mood in my Franco-Bavarian shop Demoiselle Libellule!

Ich wünsche euch ein wundervolles sonniges Wochenende!
I wish you all a wonderful and sunny weekend!

    Bea

PS.: Is is really a cherry blossom? I'm not absolutely sure because I made the photo 2010 in a Botanical Garden in Munich...

Looking Back: BUGA 2011 in Koblenz

Last Spring I spent a wonderful day at the BUGA (Federal Horticular Show) in Koblenz which was beautifully situated in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Upper Middle Rhine Valley”. There were quite spectacular aerial cable cars linking the three core areas on both sides of the river Rhine.

Beautiful flower fields like those colourful tulips had been planted everywhere

and here you can enjoy the great view on the "Deutsches Eck" where the rivers Rhein, Lahn and Mosel flow together.

Although the BUGA is over now parts of it can still be admired this year and even the aerial cable cars can still be used for a ride with a great view!

    Spring White!

Snow is white and beautiful but very very cold... So I would really prefer some Spring white right now like some beautiful fresh white tulips. Spring, please come very soon!

Creative Photoshop Playtime: Textures and Colours

This weekend I processed a simple photo of a bunch of flowers in a vase which I made, by the way, in a sort of cemetery chapel, in four different colour tones.

    Ich habe dabei mein Originalbild
    I overlaid my original photo

with two textures: one is a part of a texture by les brumes and the other is one of mine. This time I played a lot with the colours. I always try out many things, I play with the contrast, the light, the intensity of the overlaying until I get the result I really like. During this process there is often something that goes wrong but all in all it is a creative process I really enjoy after the making of the photo itself.

    Autumn Rose

I know it's not the right season but yesterday I found an Autumn photo from 2009 and I wanted to process it in a new way. It's interesting to look with a certain distance through my own old pictures and see what I did with them some time ago and how I look at them now.
